Today, we already know that Covid is not going anywhere and we’ll likely continue having cycles where we get used to a new normal and things crash again. We’re longing for the feeling of freedom, something we’ve been losing these past two years.
What would you like the new normal to look like? Picture it, taste it, feel it and embody it for a brief moment.
From all the things you pictured, what are personal core values related to them?
We have hope that things will get better, and they might in a number of years. Let’s put “hope” as a wishful long term coping mechanism. Instead, why don’t we focus on resilience in the short term!? Believe it or not, you are a more resilient person than you were two years ago. If we see the new restrictions, the new ways of working, of interacting, of living, as temporary challenges we have to overcome, we’ll come out of this pandemic stronger than ever.
The key: believe in your inner strength, practice reflection and self-care.
That idea you’ve been holding on to as the new normal, it won’t ever happen as you picture it. Don’t attach to it, but do filter the core values that are related to that dream. Those are your needs and you must find creative ways to meet them.
We can’t change our environment and how things unfold, we can only focus on how we react to it. These Covid waves are like emotions, whether happiness or sadness, they won’t last forever. Enjoy the joyful moments as much as you can, and hang on tight in the sad moments as they will pass.
Every time you’re feeling hopeless, remember the core values that need to be filled and do something to meet them. Give yourself some extra self-care and love.
We’re strong and we’ll make it just fine. ❤️
